Things to Know Before Your Llandudno Move
The Craig y Don stretch of The Parade now charges from 10 a.m. and bans overnight parking. Space disappears fast. If your movers arrive late morning, they will be stuck looping the prom while you stand outside wondering where they are. Book an early slot and give your movers a clear stopping point before 10 a.m. Have a side street ready as plan B. If they must stop on restrictions, arrange temporary permission a couple of days ahead so they can unload without watching for wardens.
These streets fill before most people have breakfast. By mid morning they are single file, cars squeeze past mirrors and you could be carrying boxes from halfway down the street. Residents often guard spaces with cones or bins the night before because kerb space is so precious. If you live here, hold a space the evening before or warn neighbours you have movers coming. If that is not realistic, get your movers in early. Turning up at 11 a.m. is a guaranteed long carry.
North Shore and Craig y Don properties often have steps up to the front door and narrow staircases to second and third floors. Bulky furniture takes time to turn and twist through these layouts. Tell your movers in advance what is going upstairs so they unload those items first while the kerb is still clear. Leaving the big stuff until later often means moving the van and doubling your carrying distance.
Abbey Road and surrounding streets look harmless, but have recently resulted in a wave of £70 fines for anyone on the single yellow near the beach. Movers stopping “just for five minutes” get the same treatment. Pick legal bays or safe side streets and send the details to your movers. If you genuinely have no choice but to use a restricted spot, get temporary permission. Gambling on a quick unload usually ends with a ticket on the windscreen.
Llwynon Road and the lower slopes are steep, narrow and light on parking. Marine Drive is one way for most of the loop and has a 9 tonne limit, so a large lorry cannot use it and can get trapped with no way to turn round. Ask the seller which route they use and pass that on to your movers. You may need a smaller van or a shuttle run if a big vehicle cannot reach your door. Discovering this on move morning is a nightmare you can avoid.
Several Llandudno and Llandudno Junction car parks use height barriers, and not all list their measurements. A tall Luton turning up to a barrier that is a few centimetres too low forces an instant reroute. If a car park is part of your plan, check the height the day before. If the van will not fit, choose a wide side street and accept a short walk. It is far better than redirecting your movers while your belongings sit in the back.
